Hi guys! How are you? I am just trying to stay cool this way. It is hotter than blue blazes here. Tom got off work early yesterday and we went boating just us two. It was nice to relax on the water! We also have the Fourth of July this weekend, well on Monday, which means a long weekend for us! I hope to see fireworks even though there has been a ban a lot of places due to the drought! Enough of that, on to my card.
I have a new card for you today for the Just Magnolia and Hanglar Stanglar Challenge! The theme is "SHABBY CHIC". I did a little looking to see exactly the meaning of shabby chic and it is basically taking something new and making it look old and usually softer colors are involved. So this is what I did:
This is a little Hanglar girl that my friend Tammi sent me eons ago. Isn't she cute? I sure wish they sold them individually. There are so many stamps I would like, but not all the sets.
The idea for this card came from a picture on the web of a pillow that was in the shabby chic style! It was a quilt material. I just took some of my Papermania scraps and went to town! This is what it looked like before being decorated!
I distress all the pieces before gluing them down and made them nice and distressed like fabric might look. It still didn't look like I wanted, so I added white paint to the distressed edges.
You can see I added the Romanic Lace doohickey all around the border and then started decorating my card with all the pretty stuff from Wild Orchid Crafts! Here's a picture of the NEW butterfly appliques.
The flowers are Sm. Baby Pink Flat Gardenias, Baby Blue sweetheart blossoms, Ivory and Baby Pink Cherry Blossoms. I also used the 3mm Self Adhesive Pearls and Ivory Insertion Aglaise Lace
I must have a thing for the flowers with little yellow centers haha! They are my very favorite!!!
I would love to see you come and play along with us at the Just Magnolia and Hanglar Stanglar Challenge!!! If you have a moment, please go check out the other DT's work!!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hugs, Dena

This is soooo beautiful, Dena. I just looooooove shabby chic! Surprised....?.....haha.... The Hãnglar-girl is so cute. I haven't used my Hãnglar images in ages. Actually I almost never use them, but now I got really inspired. Maybe I'm going to make a card with one of them, maybe....:)
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend will be really great.
So far the summer here
