LOTV Cuteness!

I have another card from the magazine that I can show you today.  It is a pretty simple layout and all, but I wanted a little different shape from the usual 6x6 size.

This Lili of the Valley cuties is called "Little Dot Birthday".  I did a little stitching around the edges and added a Martha Stewart punch around the edges also.  She is colored with Distress Inks and there's a bit of Stardust Stickles on the wings and butterfly.  I don't know why I always want to stickle butterflies, they really aren't glittery, but i always feel they should be haha!!

Speaking of distress inks, uh oh!!!!! I order a bunch of the DI markers from 7 Kids (they aren't here yet) and so I saw them at my local scrap store the other day and picked up a marker that I know I didn't order to "play" with a bit.  Well, it is my observation so far that they do not work like the watercolors at all.  Just so you know, they do not blend on watercolor paper or the copics paper I use, but when I pulled out some very old glossy paper, they blended.  So that being said, I am pretty sure I will have to order the Specialty paper that he came out with to go with the markers to make them work like I want them to.  On his video it looks pretty easy to blend, but that is because he is using that specialty paper.  I just wanted to let everyone know, to make sure you get that paper if you order the markers.

Gotta run and finish up some cards!!!

Thanks so much for visiting me and I will be back soon!

Hugs, Dena

Hi cutiepie!

I agree with you, the layout is pretty simple but you know what? Sometimes that´s what is the most beautiful thing! A real gorgeous CAS card. Love the punch you used, gives a very cool effect to the edge and your shape is perfect too. Cute stamp - as always, beautiful!

Your card is just lovely Dena. The different shape is fun and the colors are so pretty. :-)
Thanks so much for the tip about the new markers. I've been holding off on getting them cause I didn't know if they would work for "painting" like the ink and brush technique you've totally gotten me hooked on. LOL I was afraid they might put down too much ink and now I know they only blend on the specialty paper. Very helpful info to know. hugs!

Hi Dena
I just love this card so beautiful.
Just to let you know I bought the whole set of Distress Markers and they are on their way back tomorrow, I could not get them to blend on any paper I tried - I decided they are not for me. Watched his tutorial so many times and was very upset and frustrated in the end.

Hi Dena
Just replying to you message on my blog, no I did not try his paper as he clearly stated on his video that you can use any paper, I tried all the paper I had in the house, including watercolour paper and none would blend, the colour I laid down did not fade or blend into the background or blend with another colour. On my lovely smooth paper I use for copics the finish came off. Maybe it is me but I just could not get them to blend.

Hi Dena,
this is a very pretty card today, and the edge is so effective. There is nothing wrong with glittering butterflies is there- its just gives the impression of the delicacy of their wings (that's my excuse and I am sticking to it..lol!).
I haven't bought the DI markers yet, and think I won't bother now. I have managed well up to now just using the pads, craft sheet and a brush so unless they work on a variety of card/papers to me they are not worth the money.
Thank you so much for letting us know, that has probably saved me alot of money. I will do like you though and try one and then I can decide for sure can't I.
All the best Linda

Thanks so much Dena, for the heads up on the TH marking pens. I wrote to him and asked specifically if you got the same results with regular cardstock and got no answer for obvious reasons.
Your card is beautiful as always! Love the DP with that delicate little daisy print.
