Whimsy Release and Thank You!!

Thank you all for being supportive of my "situation" yesterday. I am finding out she has been doing this for quite some time and there are more images that she has scanned of mine.  Just so that everyone knows, I really don't care if someone colors just like me or uses the same colors for an image as long as it is done by you and you have spent the time and effort to make it yours.  Your comments really did make me feel better.   I am so thankful for each and every one of you!!!  It is true that it is only a few that try to spoil everything, because MOST crafters are the best people in the world to know!

On a funny note! I love living in Texas.  This morning on the radio I hear the DJ announce that "the Katy Freeway is backed up due to horses on the freeway". Love it!! haha!   Apparently the police horses had gotten out of the trailer and were roaming around the freeway.

Ok, enough from me, let's see what Whimsy has in store for you guys!!! I am super excited about these releases Whimsy has been having and to work with such sweet people like Denise is a JOY!!!

What do you think of the watermark?  Should I go a bit darker?

Do you remember the days of blowing on dandelion flowers? Oh, I sure do! I used to love to pick them up and making a wish!! This little image brings back fond childhood memories.  Her name is fittingly called Dandelion Girl by Sylvia Zet!  I also used the new Fanciful Birthday Notables stamp. It seemed to work well with the image.   I colored her with distress inks and used the MME Paper Pad Fiddlesticks.  My cards are never complete until I have loaded it down with Wild Orchid Crafts flowers and embellishments haha!

Thank you again so much for all your support! I can't tell you what it means to me and for the dear friend letting me know what was going on!!  You guys ROCK!!!!!

Big hugs! Dena

On the other little note, we all know when we see your work because it is just outstanding from start to finish and your friend making you aware of it is proof of that! I'm so sorry to hear that this has happened to you but you are absolutely right in saying that it is only the few. We love your work and I know you inspire me constantly hun!
I would darken the watermark just a little more! Just my opinion though.

  9. Just read your news from yesterday, some people have a nerve, i would luv to be able to colour as good as yours but I just keep trying, wouldnt dream of copying somone else's work and say it was my own, I would give up first, a stunning card as always, apparentely they can erase the watermarks, but if you make it darker it might be harder for them.

  11. I think what happened to you is horrific and NOT right at all. So mark your wonderful creations with your name. I think you should make it bigger tho.

You are such a big inspiration to me and I love visiting your blog.
Hope everything turns out ok for you.

  12. Hi ya Dennnna!!! Well I must say that this is one heck of a GORGEOUS card! What's new about that though! You ALWAYS make such STUNNING creations! OhHh and how much I love this little darling girl .. she is as precious as can possibly be!!!!!!! Yes yes yes, I remember blowing dandelions also and making wishes too!!! :) And now that you've coloured this image beautifully and brought her to life, I can picture myself standing in the grass and doing the same thing. Absolutely LOVE this!!!

ps ... OMG about the horses roaming on the freeway! Hope they're all safe and sound now. In my mind I'm picturing a ton of police officers chasing down horses on the freeway trying to get them all back into the trailer. OoOOops .. someone forgot to lock the trailer door!

Oh and your new watermark looks good! Even if you went a little darker, nothing could ever take away the gorgeousness of your cards!!!

    Big Hugs to You,
    Elise

  16. What a fabulous card you have created here! And so sorry to read that someone has been scanning your work! that is just plain WRONG! I just love coloring my images and try to get better, so to copy someone elses work doesn't get in my head eather! I would the water mark as it is (but really keep it to prevent stealing!) it doesn't do the image much wrong this way but you can still see it beeing there.

  17. You're card is gorgeous, my daughter blew a dandilion last year and got most of it in her mouth!! (She's only 4!)

Making your watermark darker would not detract from your lovely work and if it makes it harder for people to copy,I wouldn't worry about how dark you have to go.

  19. Hi Dena,
I was shocked & appalled to read your last post. I'd be furious if that happened to me. But your cards are always so gorgeous, it's no wonder they did it. Nonetheless it's despicable & they should be named & shamed! I should watermark my own cards I guess, but don't know how. Will e-mail v soon. BTW your card has arrived, but I'm not opening it till tomorrow! Hope you're keeping well.
    Huge hugs,
    Andie xx

  23. Love your card. I don't often comment but always look at your wonderful creations. I was saddened to see your post yesterday, I just cannot understand how people can stoop that low. I am a friend of C. Dol and we often talk about your cards and talent.

  24. Your cards are so beautifula and I really admire your talent. I'm sorry that thieves have ruined your joy in sharing your art work. I think the watermark needs to be a little bit bigger or placed higher. As it is now, it is still possible to crop it or mask it. I look forward to seeing more of your creative works.

  27. Hi Dena,
I'm sorry I have only just read yesterdays post and I am appalled. It seems there are too many people unwilling to work themselves to achieve an end product and I think it completely detracts from our 'crafting world'. To us crafters it's all about the creation. I actually feel very sorry for these people, they must lack any talent of their own other than thief and that is a curse not a talent!
Anyway sweetheart, I have done some research and I am including a link to a photographers site that has some useful info, not all relevant to you, but it gives you ideas how to minimise the risk. Unfortunately, as others have stated watermarking is not a solution, photoshop plus many other programs can easily erase these watermarks and to use bigger ones or multiple marks would ruin your image completely. Also, don't bother wasting time darkening it, the colour doesn't matter when they erase it.
I think you need to limit the size of the image to view, but I hope this link can help alittle.
    All the best Linda

Your card is just stunning and yes, like you, I can remember spending sunny days with my daughter counting as we blew away the time of the dandelion clocks (as we called them). Fabulous memories and ones to treasure for ever.
    Hugs and best wishes Linda

  38. Hi Dena, Absolutely Stunning card , so very beautiful. Your watermark is good because you can still see your card perfectly, but is it enough to stop the copying hmmm. I think I would make it a little darker to be on the safe side. Glad you are feeling a little better. Please don't stop creating your gorgeous cards and projects, we all love them and enjoy seeing them so very much.
Hope you have a great weekend.

  57. Love the card and love the watermark. You might want to add your blog address under it. I just had a watermark made that has my name (like yours) and then the blog address in smaller print under it- this way if your work shows up elsewhere (pinterest or ebay) others can see where the work originates and visit you. Just an idea. Also, as I have learned from so many, whenever I pattern a card design from one I have seen elsewhere, I always title it "Person's name Inspired Card" so that I give credit to whomever "inspired" me to create it. Have a great day!

  63. Dena, just read your previous post about a few people nabbing your tutes, cards and coloured images and claiming them as their own. Definitely a few rotten apples in the barrel.
Stunningly beautiful card you've created--like the rest. There hasn't been one that I don't like...LOL. Always awesomely coloured, wonderful layout and gorgeously embellished.
As to your watermark, I agree with the rest of the ladies, making it a wee bit darker wouldn't hurt. I can barely see it...or may it's just my old eyes, LOL.
